Introduction

ECOF-2003 is a public rocket launch.  Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the thrill of rocketry with us.  We have obtained a 10000' AGL waiver and expect every size of rocket motor, from Micro Maxx to K, to be flown.

We have a Porta-Potty onsite.  No more getting into your car to drive to the bathroom.  There will also be a food vendor onsite to serve up yummy food and beverages.  Our new and improved multiple pad launch controller system is ready to go.

Range operations will be broadcast on FM 88.1Mhz.  You may want to bring a portable radio or use your car radio to hear what's going on.

ECOF-2003 Fun Events

1) Heaven Can Wait, You Shouldn't - A best creative design rocket contest. You must build a rocket using tubes provided free by Mark Smeiska. Contact Mark for your free tubes at 262-970-9511 or email rocket56@execpc.com. The rules are simple, the writing on the tubes must be visible and the rocket must be flown at ECOF. Judging will be done by a panel of excited children who will be pressed into service.

2) Ping Pong Ball Ejection Open Spot Landing - Ping pong balls will be provided to all who wish to enter the contest. The ping pong ball must be fully enclosed in the rocket body and then ejected along with the rocket's recovery system. Closest ball to the spot wins!

3) Flying Saucer Drag Race - Any flying saucer type rocket on any certified motor, just for fun.

Schedule and Registration Details

8:00am - Trailer arrives and members help the weary launch manager set up.
9:00am - Test the launch system, and set up registration tent and raffle prizes.
9:45am - Announce that registration is open to flyers.

*****Registration details*****

a) Low power flyers pay no fee and will register to receive a name tag only.
b) Flyers who intend to fly "F" impulse or larger will need to show their NAR or TRA
card for high power certification levels. The flyers name tag should get a round sticker which will be marked with their cert. level L1 or L2 possibly L3? Flyers in this category will pay the WOOSH high power rate of $5.00 for WOOSH members, $10.00 for non-WOOSH members.
c) Flyers who wish to try their hand at the Ping Pong ball spot landing should request a numbered ball at this time. They should strive to return the ball so that other flyers can also take a crack at it. Ping Pong ball flyers should be issued a contest flight card for the event and told to use it for that flight so that the LCO knows that this is a contest flight. The balls will be numbered, please write the number of the ball on the contest flight card. The LCO will need to request volunteers as needed throughout the day to measure the Ping Pong ball distances and return the balls to the registration tent.
d) Raffle prizes and tickets for the drawings will be available at the registration tent. Please sell tickets for 1-$1.00, and 6-$5.00. We will draw the winners as time allows beginning at 11:00am.

11:00am - Announcement is made for members to bring up their "Heaven can wait, you shouldn't" (HCWYS) entries to the launch manager's canopy area for judging by Noon. Bring models in ready to fly condition, less ignitors. Please have a filled out sport flight card available for us to use when judging the models.
12:00 Noon - Launch manager will recruit a crack team of excited children to judge the HCWYS. models. Modelers should be on hand with the materials (ignitors) they need to run up and fly their models. No heckling of the judges or baiting them with candy will be allowed.
12:25pm - HCWYS models, modelers, and the judges will get into the queue to wait to fly their models. The big winner will be determined immediately following the flights or crashes of the models. The judges will present the prize.
