Another beautiful weekend of rockets, friends, food, and fun began Saturday morning with a J460 flight in Brent Lillesand’s 3” AMRAAM. The blue thunder flame was as long as his entire rocket as it sped into the skies. Great flight and a full altimeter induced dual deployment recovery. A pack of cub scouts and their parents had heard about our exploits and gathered to watch the show both days. They took some photos and we allowed the boys to press the launch button for some flights. Mark Stehlik entertained us with a D12-0 flight of his super snitch with a complete pogo spring recovery. Mark also flew his newly minted Vaughn Bros. ASP on a D12-7, a lil-nuke on a F101-15, and his large Easter Egg rocket named “Egg head” on a D12-3. Jim Vaccarello pulled his Launch pad “Hellfire” out of his armory and flew it on a D12-3. Scott Oliver flew his “Interceptor G” for the first time on a F50-6. Fred Jarosch attempted and succeeded all weekend long. He ignited three D12’s under his Viper 3 for a nice flight and then proceeded to get a perfect flight out of his always troublesome Aerotech Mirage using a G80-4. Dean Roth had several nice flights including a I366 redline boosting his Red White and Blue rocket. Sly Orlowski flew several rockets including a Aerotech Arreaux on a G40-4. He was unable to find the rocket until another flyer stumbled upon it in the woods. That’s one of the best things about flying with friends, if you don’t find your rocket someone else will probably find it and return it. Kristian Johnson scratch built an upscale Yankee, then renamed it “Commie” complete with a red paint job and hammer and sickle. It flew well on a G40-7. David Go flew a rocket appropriately named “Gone” on a Apogee F10-10. Dan Wolf came out to fly a few contest practice rounds, sending up a Golden Girl rocket glider on a B6-2 and a couple of helicopter models to get ready for 14AL. Dave Seer flew his Equinox on a F12-5 black jack. Dave also flew his three stage Farside X using a C6-0/B6-0/A8-5 one two three punch. Greg Grabacki flew a rocket on a K550. Kristian Johnson took a liftoff picture of this event with darkening skies in the background. We never received the bad weather but what a cool picture, nice work Greg and Kristian. Jeff Pawlak , Brent Lillesand, and Scott Goebel teamed up to drag race their mini Pterodactyl’s on F52 and F50 motors. Scott Goebel flew a Caliber ISP on a H123. Harry Potter’s “Firebolt” drifted out into the bean field after being lofted by F12 power on Saturday. It wasn’t recovered until Sunday. Scott’s Estes “C-Express” flew well on a D12-0 to a B6-6 but separated and core sampled. Mike Henke and Jeff Pawlak attempted their L2 certification flights on Saturday. Mike used a J350 while Jeff used a Pro38 J360. Both flights were successful, congratulations gentlemen, welcome to high power rocketry! Boy Scouts Adam Goebel and CJ. Torosian fed us on Saturday by cooking frozen pizzas in a box oven. Very tasty! Butch Gutheridge had decided to bail out of the rocketry hobby. He was on hand selling all his rockets and hardware. Emily Goebel purchased a LOC onyx and flew it on a F20-4. CJ. Torosian purchased a LOC graduator and flew it on a F37-6.

I have combined the flights of Saturday and Sunday in this report as our flight cards did not have dates on them. Many more good flights were flown by all in attendance. Here is the motor tally.

A – 4, B – 16, C – 14, D – 25, E – 7, F – 20, G – 17, H – 9, I – 7, J – 4, K – 1.
