  1. Jan 4 2003 Sod Farm Launch Report
    1. Development moving in from the East of the launch site
    2. Harvey has passed away
    3. Jerry Geipel, Harvey’s son is the new sod farm owner
    4. We do have permission to take cars out on the field
    5. 44 flights
    6. Scott G had the largest flight
    7. Walt and Greg had bad luck
    8. Temps in the 30’s

  2. Secretaries Report
    1. Minutes from the last meeting were waived
    2. Balance of check book about $460.  This about $100 less than we started last year with.  Plus we bought a club trailer during 2002, and don’t expect a similar expense in 2003.  So financially, the club appears to be in good shape.

    1. No volunteers for the committee of those in attendance
    2. Pavel volunteered to chair via E-mail in November
    3. Reviewed Pavel’s list of responsibilities for the Contest and Records Committee

  2. Status of Pratt Box
    1. Box sent to Pratt at the end of Dec 2002
  3. Discussion of the St. Louis rocket club’s “Work and Win” reward system
    1. System to encourage club members to work at club events (range setup, RSO, LM, etc.)
    2. Funded by revenue from launch fees and donations from vendors
    3. Earn points by donating time.
    4. At the end of the year each point is awarded a raffle ticket. 
    5. Awards are assigned via a raffle.
    6. Awards are non-monetary and include motor casings, rockets, etc.
    7. The system is administered by a club member
    8. There club membership and size is about the same as WOOSH
    9. Scott suggest a $2 launch fee at sport launches to support this program
    10. Brent suggested raising the club dues to $25 to support this program.  Have a cash raffle at the end of the year based upon the points earned.
    11. MVB suggested that this program is a disincentive for flyers from other clubs to volunteer at WOOSH launches.

  4. Meeting at Midwest Express
    1. Kurt is still reviewing this – his contact has left Midwest Express
  5. Brent L. to be LM for March 15, 2003 launch
    1. Saturday only – not Sunday
  6. Bong Rec Area
    1. DNR regulations to protect wildlife are being reviewed.  This may further limit our access to Bong
    2. The Hensley Sparrow nests on the north side of the runway
    3. May limit usage during the Spring and early Summer.
  7. Sussex launch
    1. Shooting for 3rd Sat of the Month
    2. Not yet firmed up (approved by Sussex)
  8. No formal launch scheduled for Feb.
    1. May have informal launch on the 3rd weekend in Feb
  9. Brent to put ECOF and WYWH dates on the NAR, Tripoli, and ROL web sites
  10. Brent to take care of club NAR annual registration / insurance
