August
will be a busy month for outreach. Professor Carol Lee Saffioti Hughes and Mary
Day are scheduling a week long rocketry and astronomy summer course for 15 or
so middle schoolers with WOOSH rounding up the program by assisting the kids
with the build up and launching of egglofters. Rather than go the easy way and
buy kits, I have suggested that we use the BTC suggestion of building shrouded
egglofters from the plans on the web site.
This
will occur on August 26 and 27. I cannot be there on the 27th for the launch,
please volunteer to help.
We
have been contacted by a Cub Scout pack that would like us to stop by and help
the kids with our famous rocketry 101 presentation and then build rockets. Pack 109 from Menomonee Falls has scheduled
us in on Sunday August 15th for the building session. They will then join us at
the sod farm launch in September to launch their rockets.
Review
of the possible exclusivity agreement with Tim Lehr to be our exclusive high
power motor vendor at our club launches.
It was voted and passed that Tim will be exclusively selling high power
rocket motors at Richard Bong State Park with the exception of national events,
example NARCON and NSL.
October
16- 18th is the UW Parkside Family fair. The director of security has asked us
to come in to set up some type of demonstration during the weekend and has
offered to give us a launch range within easier walking distance of the campus
to show off our stuff. Put this down on your calendar.
October
22-24 is Midwest Power II. If anyone wants to go see some of the biggest
baddest rockets ever flown, this will be the place to be. No additional information is currently
available on the MPII web site.
NARCON
and the CD is almost done and looks great.
Guy Michealson from Rocketman Parachutes agreed to be our main speaker
at NARCON. He asked us to pay his plain
fair. Vote on event director for the
next meeting.
People
are very curious about the NARCON treasury report. Jim Moroney made a motion to have a NARCON
treasury report available. Dean
Gelinskey seconded it motion passed.
Meeting was adjourned and we worked on Micro Maxx rockets till 9:00 pm for August sod farm launch.
