14AL- Do we
need ribbons or does the contest Director for MWRC 2003 have them still? The
ribbons were in the trailer. Three 1st place ribbons, a lot of 2nd
and 3rd place ribbons, we need to order 1st place
ribbons.
MRFF- "Should
I stay or should I go," would be a good name for this rocket launch. We
cannot get any information from NIRA about how this launch is supposed to run
and what they expect from us. There are no plans, no cooperation, and no
advertising done on this launch yet. We
decided to hold a WHOOSH sport launch instead of MRFF. This was a big event and raised $444 dollars
for the club and 8 new members.
ECOF- Three
events were unveiled at this meeting. 1st
event - gnome rescue, gnomes will be hidden in the evil enchanted swamp,
grasslands and Bong prairie. Find a
hidden gnome and bring it back and win a corresponding prize to the numbered
gnome. Launch more rockets and find more
gnomes. 2nd event - Mad
Hatters Ball, wear the goofiest, wildest and craziest hat; the enlisted
children will be the judges for this event.
You will get more points if your hat matches your rocket. Perhaps even additional points if you hat is
a rocket. Think nutty, big and
insane. 3rd event – Chinese
Moon Shot landing, everyone says that the Chinese Space program is on their way
to land on the moon. Let’s show them how
it is done with out own spot landing efforts.
There will be more than one target moon for you to land on. The moons will be named after moons of our
solar system. One prize will be awarded
to the first rocket to touch down on the surface of each moon. All unclaimed prized will be raffled off at
WOOSH has
been invited to participate in UW Parkside's family day activities. We could
set up a range to fly rockets a bit closer to the Union hall for
demonstrations, hold a make it take it for kids, man a booth to do some
recruiting. This is to be held on
WOOSH has been invited to participate and help run the Salem Public library rocket launch on August 17 or 18, 2004. Mark Smeiska and Scott Goebel installed a window display in the library last week. It should draw some attention.
Carol Lee Saffioti-Hughes offered to contact the library to set up a window display during family days.
Tim Leahr of Wildman Rocketry asked to sell exclusively at our launches. We took a vote and decided against it to offer competition and not lock are self in to one dealer.
