What: Sport flying (launch equipment provided), demo flights of
scale models of space vehicles and other interesting rockets.

How High: Maximum allowed total impulse is G (160Ns).

How Big: Up to large models rockets (1500g). FAA notification will be in effect.

How Much: Free! Donations to WOOSH greatly encouraged.

Especially invited to this event are all kids, teachers and group leaders who have an interest in model
rocketry, want to learn more about it, or seek to meet rocketry enthusiasts for further cooperation.

There will be a Make It, Take It held on May 3rd from 1pm-5pm at Greenfield News & Hobby.
This will allow kids to build their own (Free!) rocket to fly at the Space Day launch.  Kids that
come to the launch with their rockets that were built at the Make It, Take It will also get two
free B6-4 motors and wadding to fly their rockets with.

Space Day 2003 Launch Report

First of all, thanx to everybody who helped with preparing and running this event. It was very enjoyable and lots of fun. The educational part went really well, I was really impressed with Dr. Smith's performance and also with all great flights of the scale models (Walt's almost realistic attempt to hit London with V2 was a great way to start the demo).

I have the preliminary Space Day Launch statistics:

Number of registered participants: 46 (19+19+8)
Number of MITI kids/flights: 1/2
Number of raffle tickets sold: approx. 120 (Brent knows the exact number)
Number of flights: 175 (recorded)
Number of motors burnt: 185 (I did not count cold motors in my clusters)
Approx total impulse: 3300Ns (K)
Number of unnecessary comments re: Bong grass rejuvenation: 8 (that I've heard)
Number of people attempting to ignite an expended motor: 1 (NOT ME!)

Motor class breakdown:

1/2A: 2
A: 16
B: 68 (the most popular motor, thanx to the B-SD contest)
C: 58
D: 12
E: 16 (E9 seems to be selling well)
F: 5
G: 8

I have to admit that I had no idea that flight cards are such an interesting reading. For TWP I'm preparing detailed statistics that I've got from the flight cards, you'll see a couple of interesting facts and funnies. But you'll have to wait for May/Jun issue. I'm writing launch report tonight, but it will go to the newsletter.
