WEATHER: Yes, I know that it looks iffy right now, but it seems to me
that weathermen are just putting up predictions as they please, not having any
idea of what the weather will be. The green stuff seems to be moving across the
radar screen at unpredictable speeds, so I decided not to worry now. It looks
like we should get some flying time at least and after all couple of clouds will
only enhance the pictures. If the weather is bad at the launch day, we'll wait
and if it does not clear in couple of hours, we'll probably cancel the event. I
will then talk to sponsors about moving the donations to ECOF fund (but I sure
hope we will get good weather and this won't be needed). No rain date is
scheduled.
WAIVER: LMR notification only. Please consider staying within BP limits,
but as we said before, G is the ceiling.
VOLUNTEERS: If you come to help with the setup, please be there shortly
before 9:00AM. We should be working by 9:10AM, not arriving. If you are to man
any station (info/reg/range head) please come on time so we can launch first
rocket by 10:05AM. Also, take your FRS radio if you have one. We will use
channel 2 to communicate (this will be good when somebody needs help at his
station and there is nobody nearby). I will bring some sodas for volunteers
(soda will be at the range head in burgundy Wheelie cooler).
NEWSLETTER: We have The Space Day Edition! Thanks to everybody who
contributed. I'm looking for the volunteer to cover the event. It would help me
a lot if somebody could write the article and take the pictures. I'd like to
send the Space Day Launch coverage to the Sprocketry, so this is better
visibility than just the newsletter. Also, one more package from the NASA JPL
arrived, so we have more stuff to give away at the launch.
DOOR PRIZES: We have couple of rocket kits and Gabe is getting donations
from local businesses. We consider the raffle (tickets sold at registration
table), but we'll make final decision when we'll see how many donations we
really have (if not enough, we'll just draw the winners from registration
cards).
SCOUTS COMPETITION: Scout's will be flying single event competition
(streamer duration). If you'd like to help with this, please talk to Scott G.
MITI: Kids from MITI session may show up to fly their rockets. If you'd
like to help them to prep/launch/recover, please talk to me or to Scott G. We
have two motors for each kid (I believe courtesy of Paul Smith).
SCALE MODELS: If bringing a scale model for the exhibition, please
consider arriving before the range opens so we can arrange all scale models
neatly at our info center. Also, we would like to fly all scale models one after
another at the time indicated at the schedule. Please help us and be ready to
move to the pad at time indicated in the schedule.
