Mars Landing Contest: The goal of this
contest is to fly a rocket that carries a "Mars Lander" inside, ejects it at
ejection, and the lander then lands under its own chute. The lander can be
anything (film canister, ping-pong ball or any other safe and lightweight
object). My only concern is that if lander fails to deploy its chute, it won't
land in the NASA style (3 miles deep). No other recovery device than a chute is
allowed for the lander. First three landers that SAFELY land inside the area
representing planet Mars will win prizes. The Mars area will be in some
distance, so this won't be the usual spotlanding. I may decide to move the area
during day.
Especially invited to this event are all
kids, teachers and group leaders who have an interest in model
rocketry, want to learn more about it, or seek to meet rocketry enthusiasts for
further cooperation.
