Large Model Rocket Notification Template
Large model rockets are defined by the FAA to be model rockets that
weigh more than 1 pound but less than 3.3 pounds, or rockets that contain more than 113
grams of propellant but no more than 125 grams of propellant. The FAA requires it be
notified no less than 24 hours before large model rockets are flown, and no more than 48
hours.
If any airports are within 5 miles of the flying area then the
managers of those airports must also be notified. This web site can be used to
locate airports. http://www.airnav.com/airports/search.html
All other federal, state and local regulations still apply to flying
rockets. FAA notification only satisfies FAA requirements.

Lockheed-Martin who has the flight service station contract using 817-490-6649.
NOTE: The 2,000' maximum altitude specified in the template is not
an FAA limit. You must specify the maximum altitude that you will be using.
You can specify a different maximum altitude. If you don't provide a maximum
altitude you will be asked for it.
Waivered Flights
Rockets that weigh more than 3.3 pounds or contain more than 125
grams of propellant require a waiver of FAA regulations before being launched. A
waiver must be requested using an FAA form, and approval must be granted prior to launch.
