WOOSH
Mailing List and Free Email
WOOSH has a mailing list available to its members. If
you have access to the Internet, joining the mailing list is highly recommended.
A lot of club business gets discussed (but not decided) on the list. This
is an easy way to keep up-to-date with what's happening in your club.
There is no spam or advertising associated with this list.
All current WOOSH members are entitled to their own, personalized
yourname@wooshrocketry.org email
address. This email is accessible via your regular POP3 mail client or via
Webmail. If you'd like to get your own, free WOOSH email address, send me
a message at scotth@wooshrocketry.org
telling me what you'd like your email name and password to be. I'll then set you up and
give you instructions on how to access it.
To join the mailing list, send an email from the address you wish to
receive the list at to
woosh-subscribe@wooshrocketry.org. In the message body, give me
your full name and how you found out about the club. Let me know if you're
a club member or just someone that attends our launches.
You will then get a confirmation message from the list which
you need to reply to to confirm you want to join the list. Once you
confirm, a message is sent to me letting me know you want to join the list.
I have to approve all the new people requesting access to the list manually.
This keeps us from
getting hit by spammers. Most of the time I'll get your subscription
request approved within a matter of hours. The only time there may be a
delay is when I'm out of town. As soon as I approve your subscription,
you'll be sent a generic welcome letter with some of the basic list commands in
it.
To send a message to the list, address your message to
woosh@wooshrocketry.org.
If you have other email addresses you'd like to SEND messages
from, here's instructions on how to do it. You will only RECEIVE messages
from the list at your original account.
From your main list account, send a message to
woosh-allow-subscribe-yournew=address.com@wooshrocketry.org.
Note that your alternate posting email address has the @ replaced with an =
sign. Here's an example of how this would work:
Joe Blow uses joe@blow.com as his "main" account. He wants to setup
joe_blow@yahoo.com as his alternate
posting address. This will allow him to post from
joe@blow.com or joe_blow@yahoo.com,
but his list messages will only come in at
joe@blow.com. Joe will send a message from his "main" account of
joe@blow.com to:
woosh-allow-subscribe-joe_blow=yahoo.com@wooshrocketry.org
Joe will then get a confirmation message sent to his
joe@blow.com address. He will need to hit the
reply button and send this confirmation message back to the system to confirm
that he wants to activate that new address. From then on he can post to the
mailing list from either address, but will only receive messages on his main
joe@blow.com address.
To unsubscribe from the mailing list send a message to:
woosh-unsubscribe@wooshrocketry.org
